The closest I ever got to finishing a longer story was with "Robot Empathy," which was abandoned mainly because I looked back on it and decided that, while the plot was (and still is, in my opinion) pretty good, the way it was carried out sucked. That, and the characters were flat as boards.
Now, with "Dream-Eater" (working title), I'm again focusing over an extended period of time. Several months now, in fact. While it'll probably take forever to get done (as it should), the fact that I've focused on a single plot for this long gives me hope. And I actually LIKE the characters this time around. I took special care to give them each things like bad habits, pet peeves, favorite foods, etc., along with their more important traits.
However, I'm curious: from the basic subject (as described by the working title), does it at least SOUND interesting? Does it bring up any specific thoughts?
I MUST KNOW, else I might become a mad scientist and raise all the dead parakeets on the planet! And we don't want that, do we?
